Transportation Planning

DEA enjoys a robust transportation planning practice including the Major Transportation Corridor studies described in the following paragraphs.

DEA conducted a corridor transportation planning study for  New York State Route 347 to identify current and future traffic conditions and traffic related problems and to develop a multi-year program of projects/strategies to alleviate congestion in the corridor.  The study dealt with:  long term capacity improvements, short term improvements, growth management - land development and funding - public private financing.

Currently, DEA provides transportation planning services for Suffolk County Department of Public Work's County Road 58 Corridor Study in Riverhead, NY. DEA technical solution was rated best, demonstrating our ability to use cutting edge techniques to solve unique problems.

As subconsultant, DEA is participating in development of the Long Island Transportation Plan 2000 (LITP 2000).  This study will fulfill the role of a transportation master plan for Long Island's future.  DEA also conducted the first major goods movement study for Long Island.

DEA is conducting a long range planning study for County Road 39 on Long Island's South Fork.  DEA used traditional analytical techniques as well as simulation modeling with CORSIM to assess existing conditions and future conditions based on developed growth forecasts.   DEA is developing a range of alternatives for corridor improvement to address deficiencies while taking into account the unique nature of the South Fork communities and sensitivity to community concerns.
