Incident Management Handbook, Communications Handbook for

In New York, DEA was responsible for the Long Island ITS master plan
and the final design of the Southern State Parkway ITS.

DEA has performed architecture
studies, preliminary and final designs for Advanced
Traffic Management Systems (ATMS) on
Long Island, I-287 (Westchester
County), I-476 (Philadelphia
area), Pennsylvania Rt. 309 (Philadelphia
area), I-95 (Connecticut), the Boston Central Artery and Tunnel, the
R.I.area and the Port Authority of New York and New Jersey
bridges and tunnels.
Currently, DEA has been working on the largest active
ITS design in the nation for the District of Columbia
DOT (DDOT). This is a significant system upgrade for
signal and freeway systems which includes aspects of
homeland security for ITS equipment. These
projects included selection of traffic monitoring
techniques, traffic control techniques such as ramp
metering, variable message signs (VMS), highway advisory
radio (HAR) and off-highway motorist information tie-ins
including highway advisory telephone, visual remote
traffic displays, tie-ins to media and independent service
studies and selections included detection technology,
communications technology, VMS, HAR, RWIS, WIM and field processor
