Traffic Engineering

Dunn Engineering Associates has completed hundreds of Traffic Impact Studies for private developments and has designed off site traffic mitigation improvements associated with many of these developments. Many of these studies have been presented to various planning, zoning and town boards.

Currently, DEA is providing engineering services in conjunction with the modification of the County Road 39, upgrade of North Road Bridge over St. Andrews Road. The project will consist of the replacement of a deteriorated existing three lane structure with a new five lane structure.

DEA performed a Traffic Impact Study (TIS) to determine the traffic impacts of the redevelopment of the Sperry Property in Lake Success, New York.  The existing facility contained approximately 1.5 million square feet of office and manufacturing space and over 3,600 parking spaces.   The analysis included an examination of 15 signalized intersections and two interchanges and used traffic simulation programs to analyze the complex road network adjacent to the site.

DEA performed a Traffic Impact and Air Quality Impact Study for the 5,000 employee Computer Associates Corporate Headquarters.  A complete Air Quality Study was performed to assess impacts and recommend mitigation measures.  The traffic study encompassed a detailed examination of all intersections adjoining the site including machine and manual traffic counts.

DEA performed the Traffic Impact Study for the development of a 500,000 square foot corporate office center located in the southwest corner of the Long Island Expressway South Service Road at Old Walt Whitman Road.   The study examined 8 signalized intersections and considered the overall development of over 1.5 million square feet of office and industrial space in the Melville area.  The proposed rezoning by the Town of Huntington to permit the development has been granted.

DEA performed the Traffic Impact Study for the development of three buildings with a total of 450,000 square feet of office space for the Paumanock Development Corporation, a division of Grumman Aerospace.  The site was located on the north side of the Long Island Expressway west of Nicolls Road in the Town of Brookhaven.  The Environmental Impact Study was approved and a Finding Statement issued.

DEA performed the Traffic Impact Study and prepared the off site roadway, traffic signal, pavement marking, and signing plans for the  215,000 square foot Southport Shopping Center in Shirley, New York.  Anchor stores within the center include Caldor and King Kullen.

DEA performed the Traffic Impact Study and prepared the off site roadway, traffic signal, pavement marking, and signing plans for the two phase 900,000 square foot Tanger Factory Outlet Center.
