For the U.S. Golf Association, DEA
developed a traffic management plan to manage the 1995 U.S. Open
at the Shinnecock Hills Golf Club. Traffic management techniques
included highway advisory radio, temporary HOV roadway,
reversible lane operation, manual coordination of traffic
signals, metering of parking lot exits, event command center,
portable changeable message signs, and incident management. DEA
also operated the system during the event.
